When you make a counselling booking for Light Leaf Counselling you are asked to agree to the following terms:
- I have had an initial conversation with my counsellor to make sure she can assist me, either through a free 15 minute enquiry session or a phone call.
- My counsellor will help me to understand myself, help me clarify my problems, goals and objectives, and help me look at alternative solutions to my problems. I remain responsible for the decisions I make about my life, behaviour and relationships and what the outcomes are.
- The model of counselling for our session looks at the past and the present and uses a variety of counselling approaches which will be tailored to my needs. Sessions may include exploring and resolving past hurts, family of origin, feelings, thought patterns, beliefs and communication skills, in order to support my emotional healing and personal growth.
- My counsellor does not provide an emergency counselling service, but I know there are a variety of 24/7 helplines available to me (found in the ‘Help’ section of www.lightleafcounselling.com.au) if I need to urgently talk with someone.
- Online sessions will be accessed via a Zoom link sent to me after making a booking and it will be my responsibility to ensure I have access to a device with a stable internet connection before the session. In person sessions will be held at 6 Pyap Street, Loxton (Vital Therapy premises, midway between Loxcare and BP).
- No referral is needed to use my counsellor’s service, but my counsellor’s fees are not eligible for a Medicare rebate or private health insurance contribution.
- I can cancel or reschedule my counselling booking up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. My payment will be refunded to me only if I cancel my booking more than 24 hours before the scheduled time. If I am unable to attend my booking due to illness or an emergency, I will let my counsellor know before the session so my appointment can be rescheduled.
- My counsellor will treat what we discussed confidentially and will keep my details and records secure. The only exceptions to this are where:
- I give my counsellor specific permission to discuss specific aspect/s of my case with a specific person
- my counsellor has concerns that there is a real risk of possible serious harm to myself or others
- my counsellor has a duty of care to report (eg children at risk of abuse)
- my counsellor has a legal obligation to respond to request for information by a court as part of a court proceeding
- my counsellor needs to discuss my case with her supervisor (without sharing my personal details).
